Curious Brew Beers

Curious Brew is a range of three beers that are a fusion of brewing and wine-making techniques.

Drawing on Frazer's extensive beer know how and the wine-making expertise from the team at Chapel Down, this range of beer offers the discerning beer drinker a unique experience. Like great wine, great beer can't be rushed and you can't compromise on ingredients, time or techniques to deliver better tasting beers. Cost has its place, but not in the creation of World Class beers or wines. The beers are therefore, perhaps reassuringly, slightly more expensive than your average beer/biere/birra. But worth every penny. We don't know if they are the best beers in the World, but they are certainly beers that no-one else could create.

Our Range of Bottled Beers

Curious Brew Lager - is available in 33cl long neck bottles. We use East Anglian malt, saaz and cascade hops, then re-ferment using Champagne yeast before adding a "dosage" of the rare and fragrant Nelson Sauvin hop, before cold filtering this unpasturised beer into bottle. abv 4.7% 33cl bottle. GOLD MEDAL WINNER AT THE INTERNATIONAL BEER CHALLENGE 2012.

Curious IPA - This balanced but powerfully hoppy India Pale Ale is brewed using the finest pale ale malt and three complimentary hop. We’ve learned that great wine such as Bordeaux, Champagne and Cote du Rhone use three great grape varieties working in harmony to create better balance and depth. In this beer we use traditional English Goldings - the traditional, fresh, sweet, delicate king of English hops and Bramling Cross, a forest fruity beauty. We then finish with punchy, spicy, aromatic Chinook. We think that in balancing these three exciting hops we have created a very drinkable beer of great power and harmony. 33cl Bottle

Curious Porter - A beautiful nutty black beer that’s had the winemakers ooffle dust applied in the form of French vanilla oak chips to add a creamy soft sweetness. We think it is a wonderful tribute to London’s great beer. A fantastic food matching beer – try with anything from oysters to fruitcake and cheese and you won’t be disappointed. Bottle conditioned at 5.0% abv, it’s a dark, deliciously drinkable but distinctive beer.

"This is the closest I can get to being true to wine while drinking beer. Made by the team at Chapel Down winery in Tenterden, Kent. This is a favourite of many of the wine trade and comes out for refreshment after a long day's wine tasting! It's won a variety of awards and is a wonderful quality beer, using Champagne yeast and the rare and fragrant Nelson Sauvin hop. It's aromatic, refreshing and a great way to remain patriotic.."
