All combine to enable us to produce world-class sparkling wines and dry aromatic still white wines. Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc and Bacchus all thrive. And we operate without the confines of 350 years of rules and received wisdom. Instead we innovate with our focus firmly on the needs of today's consumer, and the most modern viticulture and wine making techniques.

At Chapel Down, we own vineyards across Kent where we believe the finest overall conditions for grape growing exists in England. However, we also source our fruit from a wider geographic area – from Essex to Hampshire - to ensure we maintain consistency and that the risks of crop failure through frost and climate are reduced.

We have many long-term growers supplying us with fruit. Our growers benefit from long-term contracts and the help and advice we can provide based on years of experience. We continue to secure new land to enable us to satisfy the increasing demand for our wines.
- Chardonnay: Grown largely for sparkling wines, plantings are increasing. Our main Chardonnay vineyard is Kit's Coty on the North Downs of Kent which produces fruit with excellent acidity and minerality and generous texture
- Pinot Noir: The classic grape variety of Champagne and Burgundy, Pinot Noir is also increasingly important for English sparkling wines. The variety thrives in cool climates & produces delicate thin-skinned grapes with low tannins & an abundance of red fruit
- Bacchus: England’s answer to Sauvignon Blanc. The style can vary from punchy tropical fruit to more restrained citrus and gooseberry. Chapel Down Bacchus is often called England’s Cloudy Bay

"By combining new viticultural techniques with the years of knowledge from our established vineyards, we are able to use the best of traditional and innovative practices to produce grapes of the highest standard. It is the evolving and dynamic approach to our grape growing that helps us to keep ahead of the game in a rapidly expanding industry in England."
