Discovery Series Pinot Blanc 2018

6 bottle case

Our Pinot Blanc 2018 is part of the Chapel Down Discovery Series. Our Head Winemaker Josh and his team are continually experimenting with different varieties and styles and will release small batches of new wines each year as part of this series.

Our Pinot Blanc is perfect for those looking for a less aromatic and more food friendly alternative to Pinot Gris or Chardonnay. A crisp, refreshing white wine with aromas of pear, melon and white flowers. The palate has flavours of citrus peel and fresh apricot which lead to a long, refreshing finish.

"At Chapel Down we’ve always had an innovative approach to winemaking. Highlighting and building upon these innovations with our new Discovery Series felt like the next natural step."

Winemaking

The grapes were whole-bunch pressed and only the best juice used. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks, followed by malolactic fermentation which contributes to the creamy texture of this wine.

Viticulture

Fruit is sourced from Maldon in Essex and Sandhurst in Kent. Grapes are grown on cordon and double guyot pruning systems, on clay soils. An early spring in 2017 meant there was a long growing season with the corresponding increase in ripeness and flavour development.
