Our multi-award winning Kit's Coty Bacchus is our finest expression of this signature English grape variety. Sourced from our 100-acre Kit's Coty vineyard on the North Downs of Kent, the wine is made from the very best parcels of hand-harvested fruit. The grapes are whole bunch pressed before undergoing wild fermentation in third and fourth use French oak barrels for nine months to add increased complexity and richness to the wine. This rich yet pure style of Bacchus has ripe green apple and elderflower aromas balanced by a creamy palate and long, fresh finish.

Originally from the German region of Pfalz, Bacchus was created in the 30s as a cross between Silvaner x Riesling and Muller-Thurgaubut and became available as a commercial variety in the 1970s. Under the UK climate, Bacchus has become a world class wine in its own right, developing distinct floral, citrus and grassy aromas that have led to frequent comparison with the highest quality Sauvignon Blancs.
Kit's Coty is a 100 acre vineyard on the North Downs of Kent. Its southerly aspect ensures the vines capture the sunlight all season long, while the warm, free draining chalk soils provide the perfect terroir for producing well balanced, intensely flavoured fruit that truly express their identify and the unique soil qualities.
Harvested by hand in late September, grapes are whole bunch pressed before undergoing wild fermentation in third and fourth use French oak barrels for nine months adding complexity and richness to the wine.
