About this product

Grape Variety

Originally from the German region of Pfalz, Bacchus was created in the 30s as a cross between Silvaner x Riesling and Muller-Thurgaubut and became available as a commercial variety in the 1970s. Under the UK climate, Bacchus has become a world class wine in its own right, developing distinct floral, citrus and grassy aromas that have led to frequent comparison with the highest quality Sauvignon Blancs.

Vineyard

Tenterden has been our home for over 20 years and where our oldest vines are planted and still producing outstanding grapes. The free draining sandy clay-loam soils and the sheltered nature of the site provide a perfect environment to produce consistently ripe and full-flavoured grapes.

Winemaking

Hand-picked grapes were whole-bunch pressed and fermented at cool temperatures in stainless steel, to retain the aromatic purity of this wine. Blending and clarification took place after six months on the lees in the tank.
