Kit’s Coty Collection wins GOLD at Wine GB Awards | 2020

by Chapel Down 24 August 2020

We are thrilled to share the news that our Kit’s Coty wines have been awarded three Gold medals at the Wine GB Awards 2020.

The wines were judged at Ashling Park Estate, West Sussex on the 20th – 24th July 2020 by judges Susie Barrie MW, Oz Clarke OBE and Rebecca Palmer. In total there were 281 wines entered into the competition with 34 Gold medals awarded. Our Kit’s Coty wines scooped three gold medals, here’s what the judges had to say about our award-winning wines.

Kit’s Coty Coeur de Cuvee 2014
Mid lemon with frothy bubbles. Lovely creamy roasted aromas. Palate is rich but fresh with a fine lively mousse and beautiful length. Really accomplished and so stylish.

Kit’s Coty Bacchus 2017
Beautifully creamy, roasted nut aromas are allied to an intriguing apple pith and orange zest attack. Dry textured and complex. This is an impressively complex dry wine that shows just what Bacchus is capable of.

Kit’s Coty Chardonnay 2017
Elegant aromas of greengage and rich herbs, along with smoky oak. In the mouth it has a lovely creamy texture and attractive freshness. Really stylish, multi-layered and long.

Co-Chair, Susie Barrie MW commented on this year’s awards.
“There are some very strong winners, both sparkling and still wines, in all categories. It was particularly pleasing to see new producers competing alongside long-established ones, proving that the UK is an ever-growing and hugely exciting region to watch. Congratulations to every single medal winner, you can feel very proud of what you have achieved.”

About Kit’s Coty

With gently sloping lime-rich chalk soil and a unique micro-climate, we firmly believe the 95-acre Kit’s Coty site on the Kent North Downs offers the best terroir for growing grapes in England. (It’s no coincidence that Taittinger decided to plant vines on neighbouring land).

Our vision with the Kit’s Coty estate has always been to produce exceptional wines that push the boundaries of what can be achieved in this country. As such, we employ meticulous approaches in the vineyard and winery to produce the finest wines possible. Each wine released is a single varietal expression which we hope will rival the world’s best.

We look forward to attending this year’s virtual awards ceremony in September to celebrate another win for our Kit’s Coty wines and join with our fellow winemakers to promote our growing industry.
